Are you being phished?

Phishing emails and text messages may look like they’re from a company you know or trust. They may say things like “your account is on hold” to coerce you into clicking a link or capture data from you, or include an attachment posing as an invoice or something interesting.

If you are suspicious, don’t click a link or open an attachment. If you have an account with the company, contact them directly on their official telephone number – get it from their website. Here’s some ways you can protect yourself:

  • Protect your computer by using security software and ensure the operating system and apps automatically update.
  • Protect your mobile phone by setting software to update automatically too.
  • Protect your accounts by using multi-factor authentication and complex passwords.
  • Protect your data by backing it up.
